WASHINGTON — A D.C. man is facing charges after police connected him to multiple robberies at gas stations across several days.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 36-year-old Michael Allen Hines, of Southeast, faces three robbery charges.

Investigators have connected Hines to at least three robberies. In two of the robberies, police say he approached people at gas stations and asked for money and the victims said no.

The first robbery was reported at 12:45 a.m. in the 400 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast. Police say Hines walked up to the victim at a gas station and snatched their credit card. The two got into a fight and Hines threatened the victim with a knife before fleeing with the victim's card.

Another robbery was reported two days later at a different gas station in the 900 block of Brentwood Road, Northeast. Shortly before 5:30 a.m., police say Hines approached a car and demanded the driver hand over their car keys at knifepoint. When the victim refused, Hines reportedly got into the car and robbed the driver before leaving.

Four days later, less than a week after the first reported robbery, police say Hines returned to the 900 block of Brentwood Road minutes before 5 a.m. on Thursday. He reportedly approached another victim at a gas station, asking them for money. When the victim refused, Hines allegedly got into the victim's car and a struggle ensued. Hines is accused of snatching the victim's phone before running away. He was arrested a short time later.
