CUMBERLAND, Va. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department has issued a critically missing adult alert for 43-year-old Amy Fabian.
Fabian has brown hair and brown eyes. She's 5-foot-8 and weighs 124 lbs.
Fabian was reported as missing after officers received a call Friday around 3:30 a.m. about a homicide at a home in the 200 block of Mount Airy Lane.
When police arrived at Fabian's home, an adult male was found dead inside, police said. Fabian wasn't located.
The man has been identified as Matthew Broyles, 29, from Powhatan, Va., officials said.
This reported homicide quickly turned to a multi-faceted investigation.
The suspect in both the homicide and Fabian's disappearance is George Knisley, 41, of Carroll County, Md. North Carolina authorities said they had Knisley in custody.
Officers believed Knisley left the home of Fabian driving a 2002 white Ford F350 work truck.
While investigating the homicide, South Hill police received a 9-1-1 call around 6:30 a.m. Friday from a woman who said she was walking to her car and was threatened at gunpoint. She said a man who fit Knisley's description threatened her with a gun and stole her car, then fled. The woman is OK.
According to police, the car Knisley fled in was a white 2012 Honda Civic with a Virginia license reading “LAR 64.”
Knisley is also suspected to have stolen a third vehicle in North Carolina. Police said he was involved in a pursuit with North Carolina police officers, and was taken into custody. He's currently being held on a first-degree murder charge from Cumberland County.
They're still looking for the F350 work truck, which is white with “Alleghany Industries” on the side. The license plate is “22L 231.”
