Armed robbery suspect crashed car into Potomac River during police chase

Arlington County Police said the suspect entered a business, displayed a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

ARLINGTON, Va. — One suspect is in custody after an armed robbery led to a police chase in Virginia.

Arlington County Police said they were dispatched to the 2600 block of Columbia Pike for the report of an armed robbery.

Police said the suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers in the area were able to locate the suspect's vehicle which ensued a chase. The suspect crashed his vehicle into the Potomac River at northbound George Washington Parkway on I-395.

Officials said the suspect was arrested and taken to a local hospital. He has non life-threatening injuries.

Police don't believe there are any other suspects involved in the robbery. 

Arlington County Police said no other injuries or property damage was reported.

According to police, the investigation continues.
