2 patrol vehicles hit after cars lose control due to slick roads in Va.

Two Virginia State police trooper vehicles were hit after vehicles lost control on slick highways Sunday night.

WASHINGTON -- Two Virginia State police trooper vehicles were hit after vehicles lost control on slick highways Sunday night.

Sunday at 6:44 p.m. a car going north on Interstate 81 lost control at the 94 mile marker in Pulaski County and hit a patrol vehicle, Virginia State police said. The trooper was inside the car at the time of the crash. Nobody was hurt in the crash, police stated.

The second crash happened at 7:11 p.m. while a Virginia State police trooper was stopped on the shoulder of southbound I-95 at the 89.6 mile marker in Hanover County, helping a disabled vehicle.

A 2003 GMC Yukon going southbound lost control and hit a trooper's car in the back. The trooper was inside the car at the time of the crash. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Nobody else was hurt.

Virginia State Police is still advising drivers to stay off the roads Monday in the western, southern and central regions of the Commonwealth. Roads are still slick and challenging.
