ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Meg Reardon Smith and her husband took a trip to Ellicott Mills Brewing Company on Main Street Sunday in for their 18-year wedding anniversary. Then, the rain hit. The flooding started. And Meg started rolling live video on Facebook on her phone.
She watched as cars floated past, then a dumpster. She recorded on her phone while water started traveling up the front steps and then seeping into the first floor of the brewery. All the while, friends commented and marveled at the power of the water.

WUSA9's Debra Alfarone spoke to Smith while she was trapped and waiting for first responders on the second floor of the business.
"Most people don't really truly realize how powerful Mother Nature is," Smith said.
She then shared how she was so impressed by the first responders and how they braved the elements-- including gushing water down the streets filled with debris--to save people.
Before long, they led Smith, her family and friends to higher ground. As for the family car, they're not sure where it is now.
